Number of Pages: 23
Age: 4-8
Genre: Contemporary
Summary:
In this story its about a little boy who used to rule his house and family. He ruled and had everyone's attention until his little baby brother was born. He hated it because everyone always focused on the little boy and never on him. The baby brother would always mess around with his things and break different toys. Finally the little king had enough and he started crying until his throat hurt. His mother came and held him telling him that it was ok. She told him about how big he is getting and all the different things he has done on his own. The little king felt proud of himself and so he started to see all the good things about being older then being the baby. An example would be when the little king got his favorite treat and his little brother got mashed peas. In the end the little brother hugs the little king and the little king says that he liked it and that he could share his crown with his little brother.
Who would benefit from this book?
I think that siblings would benefit from this book when they go through phases like these. It helps them see the love that they should have for their younger siblings and that its ok to not always have the attention on them, there are benefits to getting older.
Problems this book might cause?
There are no problems that I could think of.
My reaction:
I liked this book because it is very true that lots of children go through phases like that when not all the attention is on them. They have to learn to get used to not having the focus on them which is a big part of growing up.
